I was was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. My medical career began as a teenage candy striper in the hospital where I was born. I received my BS in nursing and RN from a joint degree program at St Andrews College in Laurinburg NC and Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

I moved to Atlanta and worked in several hospitals before deciding to pursue my Masters Degree at Emory University with a major in Maternal/Child Health. After two years as a Labor and Delivery Nurse, I decided to pursue certification as a nurse-midwife at Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY. In 1978.

I joined Atlanta's first midwifery practice at Douglas General Hospital in Douglasville, moving to North Fulton Hospital in 1991. In a quarter century
of midwifery practice I have
delivered more than 4000 healthy babies. I am a 2nd Degree
Reiki practitioner.

In my spare time I help raise assistance dogs for people
with disabilities.
